Wow–the Vena Cava Fall 2009 Fashion show was soooo dramatic! It was fabulous. It wasn’t a runway show but a presentation, where all the models stood and this triangular platform in a dark moody room. Very futuristic with broken CD’s and computer parts in the middle of the triangle and green lights everywhere. It was definitely a fashion moment when I saw Anna Wintour get her private viewing before it was open to the rest of the guests.

The hairstyle I created is a very cool pompadour. The clothes are really for downtown girls, and this look embodies that. I wanted to make it feel like she went out all night and partied, then woke up and did nothing to her hair.

The sides are very slicked back and almost wet-looking, then I teased the top to create lots of lift. I used Build It Blow-Drying Spray to help create volume, Tame It Shine Lotion to help slick the sides back, and Beautiful Hold Hairspray to keep it all in place. The key to getting that rough texture on top is to pinch and rub small sections at a time.
